Wireless Applications
Wireless Applications are used by mobile phone carriers to provide services to their customers via their mobile phone or wireless device. Location Enabled Wireless Applications provide services that rely upon location information or directions. For example, such services might allow customers of mobile phone carriers to "find the nearest" business or outlet for a particular product.
Wireless Applications can be used by anyone who uses a wireless device such as a WAP enabled mobile phone. The Whereis® Wireless Application is currently available on the Telstra.com wireless portal and will also soon be provided via SMS to all Telstra mobile phone customers.

Whereis® API
The Whereis® API is a published Application Program Interface (API) that allows businesses to integrate advanced navigation, proximity searching and mapping functions into their own applications. Functions available include geocoding, positioning, mapping, routing, proximity and ranking. Places of Interest are available for integration - for example, as journey departure and destination points. Places of Interest (POIs) have been extracted from mobility-relevant Yellow Pages® headings (eg. Chemists) and the Facilities List from page 5 of the UBD™ street directories (eg. Train stations). Extra POIs can be sourced or customer-specific POIs can be loaded.
