The first release of updated Whereis® mapping technology in 2009 will help make Australian roads a safer place for motorists, passengers and pedestrians.

The newest version of the locally produced mapping software boasts increased speed limit information and speed and red light camera identification to help keep drivers safe while avoiding costly traffic violations, in addition to new school zone warnings.

Fred Curtis, Commercial Manager of Whereis®, said the release of version 16.0 demonstrates a continued investment in improving safety on Australian roads and provides Australian drivers an additional safety net on routes they are already familiar with.

"Driver and pedestrian safety has always been one of our priorities. In addition to being alerted of even more speed limits and speed and red light cameras, Whereis® customers can also benefit from extended signpost and lane information as well as new features such as pictorial representations of junction views."
